NOW SOLD - This Arends 33 is exclusively listed with 38 South Boat Sales and is available for inspection in St Kilda. Long considered the ideal smaller coastal cruising yacht, the classic Arends 33 was conceived and built by John Arends for easy sailing in comfort. Designed by Ron Swanson, she has sea-kindly lines and excellent sailing characteristics. Her shallow keel allows access to many harbours and lakes no accessible to deeper keeled cruisers while her interior volume is deceptively spacious and she has more liveable room than many larger vessels.
'Little Mermaid', Arends 33 hull number 12, was built for shipwright Arne Hansen in 1981 and fitted out by him in quality Teak to a very high standard. She has been lovingly maintained by the same owner family for over 30 years but now its time to move on. She sleeps up to eight in comfort, has a fully equipped galley with stove and oven, and an excellent fridge. The main cabin features an offset timber saloon table and seating for 8 or more, a cocktail locker, excellent headroom and plenty of storage. There's a fully enclosed marine toilet with washbasin.
Her 40HP 4 cylinder Sole ( marinised Mercedes Benz) diesel engine with shaft drive has run about 1600 hours and powers the yacht at 6 knots or more in most conditions. Wheel steered, her spacious cockpit is deep and safe for offshore passages and features excellent storage for cruising gear in several lockers. A removable teak cockpit table and teak helmsmans seat are provided.
Sails include mainsail, furling headsail and a spinnaker for added downwind enjoyment. A powerful electric windlass with both chain and rope gipsys makes light work of anchoring. If you are considering family coastal crusing then this delightful Arends 33 is a yacht you should see.
